Larry Vidaurry Identified as Pedestrian Killed on Highway 80

DIXON, CALIFORNIA (August 21, 2014) – According to an article by the Dixon Patch, the Solano County Coroner’s office has identified a pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle at Interstate Highway 80 and state Highway 113 in Dixon on Saturday night.

Larry Vidaurry, of Elk Grove, was in transit with two other males in a Toyota Tundra that had a boat trailer in tow on eastbound Highway 80 at approximately 11:30 p.m. Saturday, writes the Dixon Patch.

As stated in the article, the driver of the Toyota pulled over to the right shoulder of Highway 80 near the southbound Highway 113 because of a flat tire.

According to the Dixon Patch, two of the men in the Toyota ran across Highway 113 and stood on the south side of the steel guardrail for safety purposes as the driver unhooked the trailer and went to search for a tire.

As per the article, California Highway Patrol says that when the driver returned, the two men ran across the two-lane transition road to the shoulder of Highway 80.

CHP says that the first male crossed safely but that Vidaurry was hit by a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu driven by a 27-year-old man from Sacramento.

The report states that Vidaurry died at the scene of the accident at 11:36 p.m.

According to officials, alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the fatality.
